Welcome the Stout

Just in time for St. Patty’s day, we begin our look at stouts. Stouts are a hearty bunch, as their name would200px-irish_clover.jpg suggest, and bring to mind the old Irish bar. In contrary to common opinion, they are not all like “eating a loaf of bread”, as my college mates used to describe it. While many are filling, stouts run a huge gamut of flavor. Some are dry and bitter like Guinness, the best selling stout, while others are sweet and there are even stouts specifically made for drinking with oysters.
Ah… there is more than you thought, isn’t there? We’ll be running the gamut of stouts this week. I’m going to do my best to find as many of the different types that are out there to give you an idea of what they’re all like.
